Application Process for the STEM High School Certification Program

  • Apply at the end of their freshman year
  • Have a B average in Science and Mathematics during 7th and 8th Grade
  • Submit a 250 word essay outlining why they would like to be condiered for the program
  • Interview

*STEM High School Certification Program incurs an annual fee

 

 

A high school STEM Certificate will be awarded to students who have completed the following requirements:

  • Completion of four (4) mathematics credits and four (4) science credits during four years in academy
  • One credit of STEM electives offered at SAA or any pre-approved and acceptable alternative from an accredited institution
  • A minimum of 80 hours internship at a university, STEM industry, or a STEM enrichment program
  • A visual arts or graphics design class of 0.5 credit
  • A grade of at least B- in all STEM classes
  • Completion of core requirements for a college prep diploma
  • Twenty hours of STEM-related community service credits, which can count as part of the hours required for graduation
